I was born in the country shortly after the war against Adolf Hitler and Fascism.
A bit too young to catch the beginnings of Elvis Presley, the first music that made
me sit up and listen was what was still known then as Rhythm and Blues (soon to become Soul), much driven by the secularisation of Gospel music.
I was entranced by all the emotion and screaming and harmonies and to a boy living
an isolated life in the Hampshire countryside it seemed to make some sense.
My next musical move was seeing Bob Dylan on TV during the long cold winter of 1963.
Again something clicked, and soon I was buying Bob's albums as soon as they were
issued - what's more he led me on to the whole North American folk scene
(Canadian Artist Buffy St Marie was a particular favourite) and a lot of the background of early
Country and Blues music.
I started playing guitar when I was 14 and have been playing in public for the
last 4 or 5 years - as well as guitar I play a little banjo and mandolin, and harmonica.
My current repertoire includes Bob Dylan, Jesse Winchester (a longtime favourite),
Hank Williams and Woody Guthrie.
"With his driving rythmic guitar work, the cry of his blues harp and his expressive, gritty style, Pete captures the very heart of country blues, his chosen musical genre. Pete's unassuming manner, easy approach and musical excellence make him an act not to be missed."
